The Role of MOM and CRITIC...How do they blend?

I am a Mom...yes me,

Lin (AKA L.J. Holmes)...of fellow author

KAT HOLMES.

I have been in love with my daughter since long before the hard work of birthing labor began.

I will not lie and say things are always copacetic between us, but I am one of the most fortunate women in the world to be blessed with this young woman as MY child.

Sara D. I think you know how close I am with Kat because the pictures I saw of you at our Muse Retreat with your daughter as your companion, and the stories those lucky enough to attend tell of your relationship make me believe you share the same closeness.

We will fight those that try to hurt them, and praise their successes, sometimes to excess...Which means many of you are going to think that is what I am doing here...but you'd be only half right.

As of this moment I am beginning a contest. Kat has created a world so rich and detailed, she has me sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for her to write the next chapter, and Book One,

FROZEN actually debuted last year.

Right now, she is writing Book Two, and I am slack-jawed by how talented she is...I assure you, I do not say this lightly. Nor am I this

over the moon about EVERYTHING she has written.

But Artica, her medieval land of perpetual ice and snow will, when the world starts reading it, become a classic series.

I just finished reading Chapter Seven of her manuscript for Book Two...and if I thought Book One was astounding, Book Two is leaving me breathless.

In Book One we meet Awni, the queen of Artica, learn of

Tichi the God of Artica, Elric, the closest thing Awni has to a father, and the Council.

We learn about loneliness that is stark, deep, and unavoidable...or is it?

We also are introduced to the

Artica Lights...pivotal masses of swirling magic...or something else, that are actually visible on the magnificent cover Muse It Up Publishing's

Queen Cover Art Goddess created for this book...although you'll have to look for them, so brilliantly did Delilah K. Stephans present them.

If you haven't read Frozen...oh my God, you are so missing a brilliantly crafted story...and trust me you are going to WANT to pickup where Frozen leaves off and Book Two begins.

Like Me, you are going to become an avid ARTICA aficionado.

For the next TWO weeks,

all comments left here will be in the running for one of TWO free copies of Kat's first book in this series FROZEN...and trust me, once you've walked around the deliciously cold but hotter than hot, land of Artica, you'll know The Artica Lights have swirled their magic your way too.

For more information about Artica, Artica Lights, and Awni, check out the sale page for
FROZEN.

To learn more about Kat Holmes, my incredibly brilliant Best Selling Author daughter, she can be followed on her WEBSITE and BLOG.

Jump on the Artica Lights Series Bandwagon NOW!

The contest will end on Saturday, January 17th and the Two gift copies sent on Sunday January 18th.

Never will winter feel so good!

I know how you feel.
A mother's love is unique. I have a daughter who has completed 2 novels and many short stories. She also trained as a jounalist and was awarded cadet of the year in her final year. As a result she was sent to Germany to study German at the Goethe Institute. She's a wonderful mother and I'm very proud of her.
Kat's book Frozen has fascinated me since I first saw the incredible cover and read her blurb. I want it. hehehe. Seriously. If I don't win it I'll have to buy it! :)

My daughter's grown into one of the strongest women I know. But then, she was born grown. Yes, one reason you and I and Kat bond so well is because I too have that relationship with my daughter, whom I swear was more than likely my mother in a former life. She acts like it sometimes in this one. Kat, I've loved everything I've read about Artica, I know the series will be a classic!

Sounds interesting. The setting is reminiscent of Philip Pullman's Golden Compass.

I agree with you. The cover for Frozen is fantastic! Also I am really excited about reading this series. The characters sound so real and I love the idea of it.

Yes, being the mother of two daughters, it is wonderful to have a good relationship with them. My older daughter helped me with my novel by being a sounding board and she also helped with the blurb, which I sucked at.:) She is a good writer on her own, but she continues to write only fan fiction. I would love to see her write an original story, but she is very busy with her job now. My other daughter starting writing something and I am very interested in where she is going with it.

Sara does have a wonderful relationship with her daughter. We hung out a little together and they were great!
